G is for Giant Paper Flowers

G is for Giant Paper Flowers

These are all the rage in the crafting world right now and I wanted to try my hand at it. I learned several things along the way.

1. I cut my cardboard base too big. I’m not really sure how to know what size to cut it, but I know what size not to cut it.

2. Cover your cardboard. You could probably paint it or use the same paper as the petals. I did not do this and tried to go back and shove little scraps of paper in between the petals… It was hard and not very successful. Learn from my mistakes.

3. The tutorial I used suggested cutting and gluing together the base of the flowers to give them a little curve… I did it a little overly dramatic and the curve was crazy! I ended up cutting them and redoing them as I put them on. You are supposed to partially overlap not entirely overlap.

4. Don’t make giant paper flowers if you don’t have a place in mind for it. I have no idea what to do with it now.

So these definitely take practice but I feel like even my second attempt would be greatly improved.

See the cardboard? So frustrating and so easily avoidable!
