These Dollar Tree ornaments are the cutest, and quickest DIY project! They would make a great gift for any hot drink lover! I’ve got some affiliate links in this post, so if you use them it helps me out but doesn’t cost you any extra. Did you know you can buy from Dollar Tree online? And you can have them ship it to your local store for free! You do have to buy a set of items, but some sets are only 4-5 items and honestly, when I go to the store I often end up buying that many. Unfortunately, for this particular project most of the items are sold in bulk, but I will provide the links anyway just in case. This would be a great craft to do with a group of kids! To make these adorable ornaments you will need…
- mini cups (In-store only)
- spackling – one container makes 6 ornaments.
- ping pong balls
- cake decorating bag and tips – you will want to throw it away when you are done
- string or ribbon for hanging
- straw (optional)
- glitter, paint, or sprinkles for decorating
Step 1: Gather all of your supplies! The spackling will start drying out very quickly so you want to be prepared.
Step 2: Stir spackling. You will need to add a little water or white paint (I did a little of each) until it is a pipeable consistency. Scoop into frosting bag.
Step 3: Place pingpong ball inside of mini cup.
Step 4: Tie a knot in your string/ribbon and place it inside cup so the loop is on the outside.
Step 5: Pipe spackling into cup in a circular motion
Step 6: Top with decorations!
Step 7: Let dry at least 24 hours before hanging.
Aren’t these the cutest! Now, my mini cups were actually purchased around the 4th of July which is why they have both red and blue with the stars. Most likely, the ones you will find at Dollar Tree right now will be all red. You could decorate and personalize these with stickers or a Cricut to make for a very fun gift!
If you end up making these make sure to share with me on social media or email me at email@example.com! Happy crafting!
